I can talk about a lot of the benefits of Gaming I have encountered, but the most paramount... the part most easy to be seen... would be my friends.
I game with a few diffetent groups currently, but what i would call "my group" is the one that meets in millersville. Normally I would leave names out, but as almost everyone in that group is Bodhana staff or volunteers, I feel ok just using names. That group formed out of the splintering of three seperate groups.
In 2003 (?) I ran into an old buddy from high school, and he was looking to start a dnd group up. He just moved back home with his friend and roommate from college in tow. There I met Andy Mull. We gamed in that small group for a little over a year.
Meanwhile an old friend from scouts started up a Star Wars game and I was invited. He also invited a friend of his from work- Jarred Ebert. Jarred also brought his old High School Friend Sean Barrett. That group grew and eventually ended as groups do.
I introduced Sean and Jarred to Andy, and that became the core of another group. We grew and shrank as groups do.
Meanwhile an old friend Jennifer Riggs needed help moving, and she even conned me into helping her roommate's boyfriend (now husband of many many years) and his roommate move as well. That's where I met James Stevenson and Ashlen Stevenson.
That with the new comers of Heidi Ebert and Alysse Stelhi is my group. I say newcomers lightly as I've known Heidi for more than a decade and I remember watching Obama's election returns with Alysse...
My point in this diatribe... these people are not just a group I roll dice with. They are my family. We have celebrated wonderful things together... Marriages, Graduations, the birth of our collective 5 children. we have also experienced gread sadnesses together- notably for me the end of my engagement and the death of my father. This group Is a collection of people that i feel blessed on a daily basis to know... and i love them, both individually and as a group, very dearly.
